Overview
Guided inspections combine checklist style questions and the interactive map into one view. The guided inspection has categories and questions that can be answered by the user. Each question auto-populates associated hazards and features below it for quick reference. This can be based on hazard/feature:
- Type and Sub-type
- Status
- Timeframe (This shift, last shift, all)
If a user clicks the hazard/feature, the map zooms to that location. Users can log inspections and update properties from within the sidebar.
Note: On small screens, only the questions and hazards/features will show if there is not enough space to have the map appear too.
Multiple Users:
Guided inspections can be accessed by multiple users. Each user has to answer their own questions. If enabled, persistent notes can be added as responses to questions. This is disabled by default.
Reset Frequency:
Custom reset frequencies can be set by your administrator. Common examples would be a shift-based reset for OCEs and Supervisors, or a weekly reset for Geotechnical engineers.

To log an inspection, select the appropriate hazard/feature in the sidebar. The tile will expand showing all the hazard/features properties and details. Select “Inspect” to log an inspection and select any property to modify its value by clicking on it.
Users can quickly see what hazards/features have been inspected this shift by the green tick next to its icon.

Guided inspections do not need to be submitted. If the answers are being used to generate a stat report, they will automatically be populated in the HazView Reporter once the data has been synced.
If a Yes or No indicates a hazard or feature needs to be added to the map, it should added to the map with the Orange Add Hazard/Feature button.
All changes and inspections logged from within the Guided Inspection tool will be added to the associated hazard/feature.
Tips
- Selecting a hazard/feature on the map in a guided inspection will not bring up its details. If you want to interact with the map, use the Map view on the left hand side of your screen.
- Auto-populated hazards are managed by your Administrator. If a hazard/feature is not appearing as expected, before contacting your administrator or HazView support confirm:
- Type and sub-type
- Status (active or resolved/inactive/misreported
