How to Add a Hazard/Feature

How to Add a Hazard/Feature

Overview:

HazView allows users with permission to add hazards and features to the map. Each hazard or feature includes customised properties including location, description, controls, photos and associated actions.

Each hazard/feature receives a dedicated page that will show all details and a full changes history. This page can be accessed at any time by selecting that hazard/feature in the Register, by clicking the icon on the home screen, or selecting the hazards title in the properties panel on the map.

All submissions create an in-app notification for your site. Custom rules can be set to automatically email alerts to set Roles.

When to Use

  1. When a new hazard is identified like a cracking dump or blast pattern
  2. When logging features such as sump markers, intersections or infrastructure items

Add a Hazard or Feature

Only users with the correct role can add hazards or features. If you expect to be able to but can’t, contact your administrators or the HazView support team with a ticket.

Step 1. Select Add Hazard

Select the Add Hazard button.

On large screens, this will be the orange button at the top left (Figure 13).

On small screens, this will be at the bottom of your device.

Step 2. Fill in the details

Fill in the fields from top to bottom (Figure 14).

Red boxes are mandatory. They must be completed before you can submit.

If you missed a mandatory property or forget to place the icon on the map a prompt at the bottom of your screen will appear when you try and submit.

Step 3. Place the hazard/feature icon:

Every hazard/feature must have an icon placed on the map.

Tap once on the map to select where you want the icon to be. This will show as a blue circle (Figure 15).

Step 4. Add an area if required

If the hazard covers a zone, select the polygon tool on the right of your map (Figure 16).

  1. Click around the boundary to form a closed shape.
  2. Double click to remove a square.
  3. Click and hold to drag points to adjust the shape.
  4. If the polygon tool turns white, turn it back on to add more square markers.

Tip: If you want a circular standoff, use the circle icon below the polygon tool. This is helpful for hazards like a hot tire.

Step 5. Add controls and actions

You can assign controls, accountability (general text or tax users with @name) and due dates.
These appear on the home page and help track outstanding work.

Step 6. Add photos and files

Scroll down to Files and Media and select Add Media to attach images or documents.

This works offline and will sync when online.

If you are uploading a large number of photos, syncing may take longer than usual.

The hazard or feature will now appear on the map.
